I Was too busy with sex in another city to watch sex in the city
While everyone lined up to go see the Sex and the City I was too busy creating my own little adventures in another city. What started out as an afternoon cocktail and lunch with my friend as we sipped on our signature drink, an Apple Martini, and swapped guy stories(yes women do that also).
A bright idea popped into my head! Lets have a girls trip! So three hours later and a phone call away we were on a plane headed towards South Beach Miami (one of the perks of working for an airline)! Although we were one number shy of the quartet of Sex and the Cities cast the three of us were set to have some fun in the sun.
Although I have always been a Sex in the City fan and really wanted to go see the movie on opening night. I was to busy with my own little SATC adventures involving, confusing relationship chat, a lot of Apple Martinis walking barefoot in the rain and VIP service into the hot clubs of South Beach. We hopped from bar to bar and with each sip of our drinks we cursed the men who hurt us, used us, or boldly disrespected us. We swapped bed room stories and divulged our inner most feelings and relationships reminding each other and ourselves what we left back home , if only for a couple of days. The motto of our trip was vowing not talk about “whats his name” for the rest of the trip.
For two days we let loose, laughed, ate late night Empanadas at a local Colombian store, drank,
shopped , got wet, drank and met an array of men along the strip of Ocean Drive, how good it felt like to be alive and to be single On our last night out , like Carrie Bradshaw in a Monolo Blanq shoe store, we picked the shoe that fit best and signed, sealed , and delivered our last night out in town.
As I hurriedly gave my girl “whats his name’s” digits and we parted our ways with a smirk only to meet again the next morning with a grin on our faces. The plane ride home was a quiet yet loud one as we each sipped on our last Mamosa and re lived the nights events in our heads holding on Miami as long as we could. We knew that once we landed at O Hare our complicated busy lives would begin again. So who needs a movie! Its always fun to be surrounded by a group of friends and to be reminded every once in a while of what being a single woman is.
