American Bistro with a Southern twist, Park52 will tantalize your taste buds

I made my way through river and around the woods,or so it seemed, to Hyde Park’s new neighborhood destination, Park52 . Conveniently located 15 minutes away from downtown, Park52, a Jerry Kleiner and Marc Brooks establishment will not only awaken your taste buds but leave you wanting for more.

As our server, Rachelle, or was it Jennifer? started my dinner companion and I with pre-dinner cocktails I stared at the menu for 10 minutes and was torn between the grilled Jumbo Shrimp & Grits,or the Wild Mushroom & Asparagus Fettuccine. After she came back with a Manhattan on the rocks not to be confused with a Martini I decided to go with two house specials, the creamy carrot soup with the roasted Halibut grilled rainbow chard, and he the Park52 salad with a lightly-seasoned medium steak. With each bite of Halibut my tongue was tantalized with the the flavor of the celery saffron broth while his steak was cooked perfectly with the right amount of pink.

As I sipped on my Pinot Grigio and my friend on his Manhattan on the rocks which was a little too Bourbony for me , I took in the sights and sounds of the warm lighting fixtures, dark wood floors , and witnessed a war of desert which occurred at the adjacent table. Although our night started out with us being good , probably because they were fresh out of Tire Onion Rings, it ended mischievously with a Hazelnut Ice Cream, a hot fudge covered brownie, and a warm Peaches and cream crisp. ( there goes my diet!)

With the prices ranging from $6 to $36 , Park52 offers an excellent yet affordable , blend of American Bistro with a southern twist . The food was excellent the service, was great, and the location is brilliant.
